FAQ — PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at St. Rita's Medical Center
What are the advantages of working in a community teaching institution?
Pharmacy residents will have the opportunity to work with a variety of medical residents, including from the Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Podiatry and Emergency Medicine programs. Pharmacy precepts IPPE and APPE students from two different local colleges of pharmacy and has a well-established layered learning model.
What are the advantages of working in a larger health system?
Working in a large health system allows the resident to network with residents and pharmacists through committee work and drug policy development.
Is there an opportunity as a PGY 1 resident to early commit to the PGY 2 program?
Yes, the resident would have an option to early commit if interested in ambulatory care.
What leadership opportunities are available through your program?
We offer a longitudinal leadership learning experience that is led by the dean of pharmacy at Ohio Northern University. The pharmacy residents meet with the preceptor and other PGY 1 pharmacy residents monthly throughout the year.
