Program Overview
The Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital is a one-year ACGME-accredited program for physicians who have completed residency training in family medicine, emergency medicine, or internal medicine. Our mission is to provide comprehensive, high-quality, evidence-based training to physicians seeking a certificate of added qualification in Sports Medicine. We are committed to developing skilled, compassionate, and innovative leaders in the field who are equipped to enhance the health and performance of athletes and active individuals across all ages and levels of competition. Throughout the year each fellow will gain experience in musculoskeletal medicine, exercise physiology, nutrition, and rehabilitation, while also learning to address the unique needs of athletes of all ages and levels. Fellows work closely with orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, and athletic trainers, as they participate in team coverage, including on-field assessments and mass participation event management. Our faculty who are experienced in diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound and advanced interventional ultrasound-guided procedures/injections will provide hands on training including exposure to regenerative medicine/orthobiologics.
