Nearly 700 runners ranging in age from 6 to 75 and hailing from 17 states took part in the 2022 Mercy Health Iron Mom Half Marathon and Relay and 5K on Saturday, May 7. They joined nearly 200 volunteers staffing water tables and helping with traffic control to raise money for people in need.
This year, the popular Mother’s Day event raised $62,485.21 for Family Service Society (FSS), the second-oldest nonprofit organization in Paducah.
FSS serves as a resource for families in Paducah and McCracken County who find themselves in crisis. The Mercy Health Iron Mom is the organization’s signature event and FSS uses event proceeds to help thousands of households with necessities, including food, personal care items, clothing, emergency dental help, eyeglasses, rent and utility assistance and help with prescription medications.
This was the race’s 11th year and Mercy Health has been the Iron Mom’s title sponsor from the beginning.
