Mercy Health — Lourdes Hospital announces that it has named Rick Goins, DHA, FACHE, the hospital’s chief operating officer. Goins starts his new role with Lourdes Hospital in June.
“Rick has provided effective leadership at Massac Memorial Hospital as its CEO the past five years. We will benefit greatly from Rick’s knowledge of the market and his wide-ranging expertise,” said Bon Secours Mercy Health - Kentucky President Michael Yungmann.
Before being named CEO of Massac Memorial Hospital since 2016, Goins served as the hospital’s director of professional practice and chief operating officer. He has also held leadership roles with Middletown Regional Hospital in Middletown, Ohio and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Goins earned his doctorate in health administration from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and his master’s in health administration from The Ohio State University in Columbus.
Lourdes Hospital also named Ian Smith, FACHE, chief operating officer of Mercy Health Physicians – Kentucky. Smith started on March 1.
“Ian is a skilled physician group leader who brings great experience in building teams of high-performing specialists and primary care providers to Mercy Health – Kentucky,” said Yungmann. “His leadership will benefit patients in all the communities we serve.”
Smith joins Mercy Health – Kentucky from University of Cincinnati Physicians in Cincinnati, where he served as chief of operations & finance and senior business officer. Previously, he held leadership roles with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and Fifth Third Bank in Cincinnati. Smith earned his master’s in business administration from Thomas More University in Crestview Hills, KY and his bachelor’s management from Northwood University in Midland, MI.
