Mercy Health is pleased to announce that Matt Etzkorn has been named Vice President of Mission for Mercy Health – Lima.
Matt joined Mercy Health in 2003. He served as the director of Spiritual Care and then as director of Mission for Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center. Throughout his time with St Rita’s, Matt has served to extend the healing mission by advancing chaplaincy as well as the spiritual and emotional care of patients and associate wellbeing. Matt also is co-chair of the Mercy Health - Lima Ethics Committee and serves as an ethics consultant.
“Matt’s deep faith, compassion and dedication to serving the community are all so evident in his leadership style. We are so blessed to have him serve as the Mission Leader in Lima,” said Amy Marcum, Chief Mission Officer, Samaritan Group, Mercy Health.
“Matt has been a valued member of the St. Rita’s family for many years and we are pleased that he will be continuing to serve our patients and their families in this essential role,” said Ronda Lehman, president, Mercy Health – Lima. “When St. Rita’s opened its doors more than a century ago, it was to help the ill of our community. Today, Matt and his team continue that Mission by providing spiritual care to both our patients and our caregivers.”
In addition to his mission and spiritual care leadership, Matt brings to his new role a strong background in nursing. He has served as a nurse in home care, diabetes education, medical-surgical, and critical care units, as well as a nursing house supervisor. He holds undergraduate degrees in the Natural Sciences from St. Meinrad College and a BSN from St. Louis University.
