LIMA, OH – Mercy Health is proud to announce that our Physicians group in Lima has been awarded the Employer of the Year Award by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). This award is presented to medical institutions that employ Certified Medical Assistants and who are strong supporters of professional growth, particularly in the areas of certification and recertification, professional membership, and networking.
The mission of the American Association of Medical Assistants is to “provide the medical assistant professional with education, certification, credential acknowledgment, networking opportunities, scope-of-practice protection, and advocacy for quality patient-centered health care.” The Employer of the Year Award is new in 2019 and is awarded to an organization that is nominated by a current AAMA member.
“We are honored for our organization to receive this award and thankful to those who provided a nomination,” said Dr. Matt Owens, Chief Medical Officer of Mercy Health Physicians- Lima. “On behalf of our Mercy Health leadership team and providers, I commend our Certified Medical Assistant team for all their hard work and all they do for our community and our patients.”
A strong partnership exists between Mercy Health Physicians- Lima, several local training programs, and the local chapter of the AAMA. This allows medical assistants to train, grow, and work at the top of their clinical scope in providing patient care each day to the communities served.
The CMA (AAMA)® credential designates a medical assistant who has achieved certification through the Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). At Mercy Health Physicians- Lima over 80% of the employed medical assistants have obtained this certification.
