Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical center is pleased to have been recognized with the 2019 Excellence in Patient Care Award from Huron’s Studer Group business. This award recognizes St. Rita’s for receiving an overall quality rating of 5-stars from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Earlier this year, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services ranked Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center as the only hospital in the region earning five stars. This rating placed St. Rita’s among the highest ranked hospitals in the nation.
“Mercy Health – St. Rita’s is focused on providing top care to our patients and has been recognized by several top rating agencies for the excellent care provided to the great Lima community,” said Ronda Lehman, president, Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center. “This recognition from the Studer Group once again solidifies our on-going commitment to our community and to the Mercy Health mission.”
Excellence in Patient Care Awards are presented annually to a select group of partner organizations from Huron’s Studer Group business. The results were measured by the HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) patient experience survey that is required by CMS. Organizations received awards based on demonstrating overall improvement in areas such as patient satisfaction, and employee and physician engagement.
The awards will be presented at the 17th annual What’s Right in Health Care® leading practices conference, which takes place Aug. 13-15, 2019, in Dallas, Texas. The conference attracts administrative and clinical healthcare professionals from the U.S., Canada and Australia.
“We congratulate Mercy Health – St. Rita’s on this achievement,” said Debbie Ritchie, managing director in Huron’s Studer Group business, said of the most recent award. “This recognition highlights their dedication to improving the patient experience and achieving excellence in healthcare.”
St. Rita’s has been recognized with several awards this year, including being named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals by IBM Watson Health™ This is the second consecutive year Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center has been recognized among the top 100 hospitals in the country and remains the only hospital in the region to earn this recognition.
Also, in March 2019, St. Rita’s achieved Magnet recognition as a reflection of its nursing professionalism, teamwork and superiority in patient care. The American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet Recognition Program® distinguishes organizations that meet rigorous standards for nursing excellence.
