Mercy Health works to drive out undesirable variation in care in part by establishing clinical standards based on trusted national sources such as medical and surgical societies. Evidence-based guidelines and best practices are two examples of such standards.
Our system standards guide clinical decision-making, form the basis for designing and refining the electronic medical record, and align our communications both internal to the organization and with our patients. Where care between patients differs, we believe it should be due to the different needs and preferences of individual patients.
Starting with a strong foundation of clinical standards, we strive to achieve care that is based on the most current medical evidence yet is sensitive to the needs of individual patients.
