About Nursing at Mercy Health
At Mercy Health, we know every patient means the world to someone. Every patient is the center of a universe. But when they’re in our care, and they need someone to put their faith in, that’s when our nurses step forward and become the center of a universe, too.
Nursing Excellence
Nurses at Mercy Health enjoy a supportive workplace that promotes teamwork and mutual respect. We are proud of the work our nurses do to improve the lives of our patients, and we strive to create an environment that celebrates and rewards nurses’ unique contributions to the health of the communities we serve.
Seven Mercy Health hospitals have received Magnet recognition, which is widely recognized as the gold standard for nursing excellence. Only a select group of U.S. health care organizations (less than 10% of all registered hospitals) have achieved Magnet status. For our nurses, Magnet recognition means having a voice within the organization and feeling empowered to make changes in the work environment through council membership, research projects and education.
Our Magnet hospitals are:
- Mercy Health – Fairfield Hospital
- Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital
- Mercy Health – St. Joseph Warren Hospital
- Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center
- Mercy Health – West Hospital
- The Jewish Hospital – Mercy Health
Nursing Professional Practice Model
In 2020-2021, nurses across throughout the health care system chose a professional practice model to represent our nursing culture and priorities:
Faith: We honor our faith tradition as we live out our nursing mission and vision of a compassionate, healing ministry. Caring: We embrace caring theory and science to promote nurse well-being and healthy relationships with each other and those we care for. Innovation: We continually seek to discover new knowledge, solutions and technology to advance care delivery and nursing science. Professional Development: We ensure learning experiences and career pathways that promote professionalism, autonomy, full scope of practice, and diverse skills for contemporary roles. Excellence: We strive for excellence to deepen the impact of nursing through collaborative, evidence-based practice that achieves the highest quality outcomes. |
