Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital today announced that it secured the No. 6 spot in Soliant’s Top 20 Most Beautiful Hospitals contest. The annual contest aims to recognize hospitals across the country for their facility design, aesthetics, comforting staff and patient experience by asking the public to nominate and vote on the facilities where they have had great experiences.
“We are honored to be recognized as one of the 20 most beautiful hospitals in the country by Soliant,” said Genie Aubel, president of Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital. “It’s been 16 years since we opened our doors to patients for the first time and St. Elizabeth Boardman is as beautiful as ever, and not because of brick and mortar or other physical fixtures, but because of our staff who lovingly and beautifully care for our patients every day. We are called to extend the compassionate ministry of Jesus, and every individual on our team lives out that Mission every day in their work. Their love for our patients and one another is what makes St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital beautiful.”
Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital opened its doors in 2007 and underwent a major expansion in 2012, adding a 165,000-square-foot, seven story inpatient bed tower. Over the years, the hospital has also seen several updates and expansions including:
- Achieved Magnet status in nursing in 2011
- Relocated Labor and Delivery to Boardman in 2014 and now more than 3,500 babies are delivered each year at the hospital
- Opened medical oncology and infusion services in medical office building in 2021
- Expanded physician network when added three residency programs to campus including emergency medicine, family medicine and otolaryngology
- Robotics program for general and gynecological surgical procedures began in 2017, growing year over year to now more than 750 procedures being performed annually. Urological robotics was added in 2021
- A specialized robot for total hip and total knee replacements was added in 2018 and now more than 300 of these types of procedures are done every year.
With more than 506,195 votes cast for the 50 hospitals nominated, Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital emerged as one of the top 20 facilities recognized by supporters on Soliant’s annual list.
“I would like to express my appreciation and congratulations to the hospitals that made it to this year's list of the Top 20 Most Beautiful Hospitals,” said David Alexander, CEO of Soliant. “These facilities recognize that the beauty of a hospital is deeper than just appearance – that it also includes well-designed, functional infrastructure and a nurturing staff that is devoted to cultivating a safe and comfortable space for patients to properly heal. For these reasons, they very much deserve this distinction.”
