Providing the highest level of coordinated and comprehensive care in an innovative and inviting space
Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital unveiled a newly renovated medical infusion space earlier today. In addition to the updated Center, patients will benefit from coordinated services as Physicians and Pharmacists will work alongside the infusion center team to increase synchronization of treatment and enhance communication for patients and families.
The new medical infusion space will serve those patients needing pulmonary, hematology, urology and renal care. Mercy Health opened a newly renovated oncology infusion center earlier this year and today’s opening builds upon the same concept for those not seeking oncology services.
“For some patients managing chronic illness such as blood-related or kidney disease, may require the need for IV medications and that is where we are able to step in.” Said Courtney Stryffeler, Nurse Manager of the Medical Infusion Center. “We work directly with Physicians and our Pharmacy to administer these medications. Whether it be antibiotics, blood transfusions to hydration and central line care; it is all under one roof!” Stryffeler added.
Patients who visit the new space, are welcomed into an environment that promotes respite and healing. A few of the new amenities include heated chairs and blankets alongside private spaces that include televisions and most importantly, a place for friends and family to sit beside their loved one during treatment. Having the ability to remain close to home while accessing high-quality, compassionate care, remains a priority for Mercy Health.
“When it comes to healing, there is nothing that helps promote that process more than being with your support network every step of the way.” Said Lori DeNiro, Chief Nursing Officer at Mercy Health – Youngstown. “Having the ability to sit side by side while receiving treatments, is not only unique, but benefits our patients more than one can imagine.” she added.
As health care continues to evolve, meeting patients when and where they are, continues to be the focus for Mercy Health – Youngstown as we continue to collaborate on building a healthier Mahoning Valley.
