Mercy Health proud to partner with Under One Roof Food Pantry
to help community members in need

MAUMEE, Ohio (Sept. 10, 2024) – Recognizing that food insecurity is a situation that many in our community face, Mercy Health is proud to partner with a local organization tackling the issue.

Under One Roof Food Pantry is a collaborative effort involving Maumee area churches, community agencies, local merchants, schools, organizations and private donors. Together, these partners provide food, toiletries, and household products to those in the region experiencing financial distress.

Mercy Health is excited to join the effort as the newest partner with Under One Roof, with the goal of making sure all families have access to the food and hygiene essentials they need for a healthy life.

“Working in emergency medicine for nearly four decades, first at St. Luke’s Hospital and now with Mercy Health, I have seen how access to basic necessities can have a significant impact on a person’s health and wellbeing,” said Cheryl Herr, RN, emergency room nurse at Mercy Health – Perrysburg Hospital and the Mercy Health representative on Under One Roof. “I am honored to be involved with an organization that helps families in the Maumee, Perrysburg, Waterville communities and beyond.”

In addition to financial contributions, Mercy Health has pledged to be a part of the solution by becoming an active partner with Under One Roof. Providing patients with information about how to access food and household items through the organization’s storefront food pantry is just one way Mercy Health commits to bring good help to those in need.

Under One Roof Food Pantry is located at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 310 Elizabeth Street, Maumee, offering items to those who meet the income eligibility guidelines established by the Emergency Food Assistance Program. An appointment is required, and clients must come with a photo identification and a piece of mail with current address.

“Under One Roof is pleased to welcome Mercy Health as our newest partner. We are experiencing increasing numbers of families and individuals in our area turning to us to supplement their basic food and hygiene needs,” said Jane Music, contact for Under One Roof. “Our partners contribute much needed food, financing, leadership and volunteers which allow us to keep up with the growing demand for assistance in our community.”

Mercy Health understands the impact an engaged health system can have on a region and remains committed to being a strong partner – both in our facilities and in the communities we serve.

“When evaluating the health of a community, you must look beyond the walls of a medical facility and take into consideration other factors that impact community members in their everyday lives. That is why Under One Roof is such a valuable community asset and Mercy Health is proud to serve as one of their partners,” said Alison Avendt, president, Mercy Health – Perrysburg Hospital.
