Mercy Health is pleased to announce that Clay Brunow has been named chief nursing officer for Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital and Mercy Health – Willard Hospital, effective May 20. Clay assumes this leadership position May 20.
Clay brings an extensive nursing background, working in rural, community and tertiary hospitals across his 14-year nursing career. Most recently, Clay served as the vice president of Nursing at Mercy Health – St. Anne Hospital in Toledo. Previously, he held roles as director of Patient Care at St. Anne, director of the Emergency Department at Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center, Emergency Department manager at Mercy Health - St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima and Critical Care roles at St. Rita’s and Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky.

Clay fills the position recently vacated by Joan Kimmett, who retired in March after a 38-year career dedicated to serving the patients and communities of Northwest Ohio. Joan’s leadership was credited in leading Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital and Mercy Health – Willard Hospital to achieve national recognition in patient experience, quality outcomes and associate engagement.
Clay and his wife have three children and live in Findlay, OH. He’s actively involved in the community, enjoys spending time with his family and playing tennis.
