Mercy Health is proud to announce that Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital once again was named as a Top 100 Rural and Community Hospital by The Chartis Center for Rural Health.
This annual recognition program honors outstanding performance among the nation’s rural hospitals based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX™. This is the second consecutive year that Tiffin Hospital has been named on the list.
“For the past 110 years, Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital has provided comprehensive, high-quality care to area patients in the Seneca County region,” said Bob Baxter, president of Mercy Health – Toledo. “This national recognition highlights that the care being provided by this physicians, nurses and entire Tiffin Hospital team is among the very best offered in our nation’s rural communities.”

Now in its 13th year, the INDEX has established itself as the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. Leveraging publicly available data, the INDEX is trusted by rural hospitals, health systems with rural affiliates, hospital associations and state offices of rural health across the country to measure and monitor performance across a variety of areas impacting hospital operations and finance.
This is not the only recognition received by the team at Mercy Health – Tiffin. The hospital was recently ranked number 50 among health care providers and insurers in Modern Healthcare’s 2022 Best Places to Work award program – a designation the hospital earned for the fourth consecutive year. Modern Healthcare partnered with the Best Companies Group on the assessment process, which includes an extensive employee survey.
Additionally, Tiffin Hospital earned five stars from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in its Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings for 2022. This rating place the hospital among only 429 hospitals nationwide with a rating of five stars.
Most recently, Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital was honored by the Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership as an Outstanding Business of the Year 2023.
