Mercy Health is proud to announce that two of our emergency departments have been awarded the 2022 Press Ganey Human Experience Guardian of Excellence Award for Patient Satisfaction.
These awards honor the emergency departments at both Mercy Health – Perrysburg Hospital and Mercy Health – Sylvania Medical Center for reaching the 95th percentile for patient experience. Guardian of Excellence Awards are awarded annually to health care establishments who sustain performance in the top 5 percent based on one year of data.
“I want to thank our outstanding physician leaders and the team members at both facilities for putting the patient at the heart of the health care experience,” said Andrea Gwyn, president of Mercy Health – Perrysburg Hospital and Mercy Health – St. Anne Hospital. Andrea noted that the recognition is a reflection of the team’s commitment to Mercy Health’s mission of treating the whole person – body, mind, and spirit. “We are grateful that our patients trust our team in some of their most vulnerable moments and for the national recognition of our team’s impact.”
Mercy Health opened the region’s first free-standing emergency department in Perrysburg in 2013 and has since grown the campus to include a comprehensive cancer center and a full-service hospital, including a newly built cardiac catheterization lab. In 2015, the Mercy Health – Sylvania Medical Center was opened at the corner of Central Avenue and King Road to offer better access to top-quality care to residents in Sylvania, Sylvania Township and beyond.
Both emergency departments are regularly recognized for maintaining a high priority on providing an exceptional patient experience.
“An ER visit is by its very nature a stressful situation, and for some patients, it’s an indication of a life-changing medical condition. Our team recognizes the importance of providing a soothing, caring environment for everyone who comes to us to seek care,” said Dr. Christopher Goliver, medical director of both locations. “The safety and satisfaction of our patients is at the core of the care we provide, and I’m pleased that our providers and staff have been recognized for their amazing work.”
