The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) updated its Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings for 2022 and Mercy Health is proud to announce that Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital and Mercy Health – Willard Hospital each earned five stars. This rating places the two hospitals among only 429 hospitals nationwide with a rating of five stars.
The data includes specific measures of hospitals’ quality of care, many of which are updated quarterly, and the Overall Hospital Star Ratings. The data is collected through CMS’s Hospital Quality Initiative programs.
“Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital and Mercy Health – Willard Hospital have consistently proven to rank among the nation’s best in providing comprehensive, high-quality care in the communities they serve. Receiving five stars from CMS is just another example of the pride and commitment shown by our physicians, nurses and entire team when caring for those in need,” said Bob Baxter, president of Mercy Health – Toledo.
According to CMS, the Star Ratings were designed to drive systematic improvements in care and safety as hospitals strive to achieve and maintain high ratings. Both Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital and Mercy Health – Willard Hospital have been recognized as top hospitals in the region for patient safety in the past.
In addition to the top CMS ranking, Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital also was recognized recently by U.S. News & World Report as high performing in the orthopedics procedures related of hip fractures. This is the highest award a hospital can earn for U.S. News’ Best Hospitals Procedures & Conditions ratings.
Earning High Performing ratings recognizes care in the hospitals that is noted to be significantly better than the national average, as measured by factors such as patient outcomes. The U.S. News Procedures & Conditions methodology is based entirely on objective measures of quality such as survival rates, patient experience and how successfully each hospital helps patients get back home.
“We are proud of the Mercy Health – Tiffin orthopedics team as well as all of our teams for their tireless work ensuring our patients receive nationally ranked care without having to leave the community,” said Andrew Morgan, interim president of Mercy Health – Tiffin and Mercy Health – Willard.
