Mercy Health is pleased to announce that Mercy Health – Willard Hospital has been ranked number 39 and Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital has been ranked number 60 among healthcare providers and insurers in Modern Healthcare’s 2020 Best Places to Work award program.
The complete list of this year’s winner rankings is available at ModernHealthcare.com/bestplacestowork (digital subscription is required). Modern Healthcare will publish a special supplement featuring the ranked list of all winners along with the September 20 issue of MH magazine.
This is the third consecutive year both hospitals were awarded the Best Places to Work in Healthcare distinction.
“The teams at both Mercy Health – Tiffin and Mercy Health – Willard have been recognized for a third time with this national distinction, putting them in a category among the nation’s best,” said Bob Baxter, president, Mercy Health – Toledo. “Healthcare remains a challenging profession throughout the nation as we continue to face an unprecedented health crisis. I am so thankful to our teams who despite these challenges, provide amazing care every day to our communities.”
“This recognition is incredibly meaningful because it reflects the pride our teams feel of the work they do,” said Dan Barbee, president, Mercy Health – Toledo Rural Market. “Being named among Modern Healthcare’s 2021 Best Places to Work is such an honor for all at both Tiffin and Willard hospitals.”
Modern Healthcare partnered with the Best Companies Group on the assessment process, which includes an extensive employee survey. While this program has evolved over the years, its mission remains the same: recognizing workplaces that empower employees to provide patients and customers the best possible care, products and services.
As the healthcare industry sits squarely on the frontlines of this pandemic, the mission of the Best Places to Work program has only become more important. Healthcare leaders have proven that creating nurturing, supportive workplaces for their most valuable asset, their employees, is vital.
“The healthcare workforce has undergone a true test in the past year and a half, oftentimes pitting employees against employers. So how best to keep harmony in a workplace that is inherently stressful? This year’s winners have an easy tip to incorporate: show respect. In high-performing and successful teams, regard for employees’ well-being, acknowledgment of their contributions, and deference to their experience and dedication all helped maintain professionalism and productivity,” said Aurora Aguilar, Editor of Modern Healthcare. “We congratulate all of the Best Places to Work in Healthcare for emphasizing that compassion and respect are essential to an engaged and productive workforce."
This is not the only recognition received. In April, Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital was named to the Fortune/IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals® list as the top Small Community Hospital in the country. IBM Watson Health has identified the top hospitals from a rigorous evaluation of 2,675 short-term, acute care, non-federal hospitals in the U.S.
These recognitions demonstrate Mercy Health’s ongoing commitment to prioritize patient-centered and high-quality care.
