Way Public Library Foundation and Friends creates reading nook at Mercy Health - Perrysburg Cancer Center

Thanks to the generosity of the Way Public Library Foundation and Friends, patients of the Mercy Health – Perrysburg Cancer Center will have current novels available to read while receiving treatments. The library has committed to donating books – both fiction and nonfiction (poetry, inspirational, etc.), as well as children’s books – to the cancer center on a regular basis that can either be borrowed by patients or used while they are there. The Way Library nook will be located on the 2nd floor of the Cancer Center adjacent to the Patient Resource Room.

The Mercy Health – Perrysburg Cancer facility offers access to the region’s largest team of medical and radiation oncologists, who will work together to provide every patient with an individual treatment plan designed for the unique needs of the patient. All services will be located in one easily accessible location, including diagnostics, surgical consultation, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and access to clinical trials.

Mercy Health and the Way Public Library have been partners since 2012 with the goal of providing educational opportunities for families about health and wellness. The library hosts a monthly speaker’s series featuring Mercy Health experts as well as regular courses on how to manage diabetes.

Way Public Library Foundation and Friends’ Chairman Jack Sculfort, Foundation and Friends Administrator Lisa Richard, and library Director Janel Haas will join Mercy Health – Perrysburg Cancer Center administration and team members to unveil the cancer center’s new library nook.
