Mercy Health – Toledo is pleased to announce that Jodi Pahl has been appointed as the new chief nursing officer (CNO) at Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center and Mercy Health – Children’s Hospital, effective July 5. She replaces Christine Kipp who has served as interim CNO for the past six months.
Additionally, as part of Mercy Health’s commitment to patient-centered and aligned clinical practices, Jodi will serve in a dual role as the chief nursing executive (CNE) for both the Toledo and Lima regions.
In her position as CNO, Jodi will be responsible for providing nursing and clinical leadership to further the Toledo Region’s Vision 2020 goals of ‘delivering world class care’ and ‘amazing patient experience.’ Additionally, Jodi will work with the clinical and leadership teams to enhance St. Vincent and Children’s position in the market through showcasing the expertise that is available at the region’s leading tertiary critical care facility.
"We are excited to welcome Jodi to Mercy Health—St. Vincent and Mercy Health—Children’s. I look forward to working with her as she leads our care teams in key initiatives surrounding quality and patient experience," said Jeff Dempsey, president for St. Vincent and Children’s. "Jodi’s expertise in creating a patient-centered environment combined with her leadership around engagement and quality will be critical as we work to enhance the patient experience and partner further with physicians and other clinical professionals."
Jeff added: "I also want to thank Christine for her interim leadership and wish her the best on her future endeavors."
Jodi joined St. Rita’s Medical Center in 1999 as a critical care nurse and most recently served as the hospital’s chief nursing executive. During her tenure in Lima, some of her accomplishments included: redesigning the nursing professional practice model to fully incorporate a full model of learning and growth for clinical nurse teams; expanded wound care services at St. Rita’s; and led the transition of the telemetry and ICU step down units into one, comprehensive nursing unit.
Jodi received her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Toledo in 1990 and a master’s degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix in 2000. She is a member of both the American Nurses Association and the Ohio Nurses Association.
"At both the professional and the community level, Jodi has been directly involved in many initiatives that have furthered Mercy Health’s mission, strategy, and commitment to quality and delivering a patient centered care system," said Bob Baxter, interim president and CEO for the Toledo Region. "I look forward to her continued leadership in this expanded role for both the Toledo and Lima regions as we look to continue to further grow Mercy Health as the leading care provider throughout Northwest Ohio."
