The Neuroscience Institute at Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark for their achievement in earning the Advanced Certification for Comprehensive Stroke Center accreditation. This is the highest level of accreditation for stroke care with only 110 comprehensive stroke centers in the country, now including ours.
St. Vincent Medical Center is the first Mercy Health facility to receive this level of accreditation in the entire Mercy Health system. The Neuroscience Institute helped Mercy Health – St. Charles Hospital complete their primary stroke accreditation last summer, will help Mercy Health – St. Anne complete their primary stroke accreditation in 2017 and recently supported several Mercy Health hospitals in Cincinnati and Paducah in their pursuits.
The Neuroscience Institute provides the most advanced stroke care in the Mercy Health System. The Toledo region houses one of only five mobile stroke units in the world and is the only one who operates 24/7.
Congratulations to all physicians and staff who worked hard to secure this certification. The designation will further the region’s vision to deliver world class experiences and care as well as improve the community health and wellbeing for patients needing stroke care.
