New Courtesy Shuttle Welcomes Patients at Mercy Health – Springfield Regional Medical Center
SPRINGFIELD, OH (January 21, 2025) – Mercy Health is rolling out a new courtesy shuttle to help transport patients and visitors around the campus of Mercy Health – Springfield Regional Medical Center.
“Our goal is to make the hospital experience as seamless as possible,” explained Brooke Martinez, Director of Volunteer and Auxiliary Services for Mercy Health – Springfield. “Whether you’re coming for an appointment, visiting a loved one, or need assistance getting between different areas of the campus, this new service will offer a stress-free solution.”
The Mercy Health Foundation for Clark and Champaign Counties helped fund the new shuttle, which made its debut on campus Friday, January 17, 2025, following a special blessing event. The shuttle service will operate Monday through Wednesday and on Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon as well as Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is free of charge for those who use it.
Volunteers will operate the courtesy shuttle, and Mercy Health is looking for additional shuttle driver volunteers for anyone who wishes to help. The health system also has additional volunteer opportunities available across the Springfield and Urbana communities.
Mercy Health volunteers are part of a professional team, providing compassionate service and support to our patients and staff. They serve in many capacities and locations, including the birthing center, surgery waiting room, lab, pharmacy, gift shop, imaging center, and more. Last year, our volunteers donated more than 25,000 volunteer hours.
