The Mercy Memorial Wound Care Center has been honored with the Center of Excellence Award for its high level of clinical care. The award was given by Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services.
The Center achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for 24 consecutive months, including patient satisfaction higher than 93 percent, and a minimum wound healing rate of at least 98 percent within 28 median days to heal. There were 629 Centers eligible for the Center of Excellence award, but only 169 achieved the honor. The Urbana location is one of the top performing centers in the state.
“Chronic wounds affect nearly 7 million people in the United States and the need for this service is growing,” said Matt Caldwell, President and CEO of Community Mercy Health Partners. “We’re very proud of the level of care that we provide at our Urbana and Springfield centers.”
The incidence of chronic wounds is rising, fueled by an aging population and increasing rates of diseases and conditions such as diabetes, obesity and the late effects of radiation therapy. Untreated, chronic wounds can lead to diminished quality of life and possibly amputation of the affected limb.
Springfield Regional and Mercy Memorial Wound Care Center, members of the Healogics network, offer advanced therapies to patients suffering from chronic wounds. People with wounds that have not improved with traditional methods of treatment may benefit from a visit to Springfield Regional or Mercy Memorial Wound Care Centers. No physician referral needed. To schedule an appointment please call:
• Springfield Regional Wound Care Center: (937) 525-2432
• Mercy Memorial Wound Care Center: (937) 653-4969
