Mercy Willard Hospital and Willard City Schools partner to bring healthcare to students, teachers and school employees
Willard, OH - With the goal of improving the health of the greater Willard area, through enhanced access to quality care, Mercy Willard and Willard City Schools are pleased to announce plans to open the first Primary Care Office in collaboration with the school district.
Mercy Health – Willard Primary Care located within the Willard City Schools will open its doors to patients on Jan. 27, 2016 at the new school location – One Flashes Avenue. The primary care office will be staffed by a physician and will offer students and employees of Willard City Schools convenient access to healthcare.
“We are excited to partner with the Willard City Schools to bring this innovative concept to the Willard community furthering Mercy’s vision for making healthcare more accessible and easier for those we serve,” said Lynn Detterman, president & CEO of Mercy Tiffin and Mercy Willard hospitals.
Initially, the primary care office will be open 4 hours per week. Mercy Health – Willard Primary Care at the Willard City Schools will accept most insurance providers. No student will be seen by a Mercy provider without permission from his or her parent. Parents will need to accompany their children to appointments.
The Willard City Schools is made up of 1,604 students and 187 staff members. The Willard City Schools will not use general fund money for the operation of the Primary Care Office.
“Willard City Schools is excited to pioneer this partnership with Mercy Willard,” said Willard City Schools superintendent Jeff Ritz. “Everything we do is focused on helping students be their best. This primary care office will administer physicals and keep our students well so they can be in the classroom ready to learn.”
By building this partnership, Willard City Schools and Mercy Willard are working to provide a convenience to parents and reduce student absenteeism by helping children get well and back into school.
