PADUCAH, KY (August 27, 2024) - Mercy Health— Lourdes Hospital is thrilled to announce the Certificate of Need (CON) approval to move ahead with the construction of a state-of-the-art radiation cancer treatment facility and program. This significant milestone follows an extensive 13-year initiative that has endured meticulous approval processes and legal proceedings. 

 

The new radiation facility complements the recent opening of Mercy Health— Lourdes Hospital's new Cancer Center, marking a crucial phase two in providing top-quality cancer treatments in the region. John J. Montville, Executive Director of the Oncology Service Line, expresses immense excitement regarding the full CON approval, stating, "This achievement is beyond exciting. With the Certificate of Need approval obtained, Mercy Health—Lourdes Hospital is now set to bring its plans to fruition. It will embark on an 18-month construction journey and establish a cutting-edge treatment and provider team. This will allow the many cancer patients treated at Mercy Health—Lourdes Hospital to get their comprehensive cancer care with the team they know and trust at a single Mercy Health location.
