Mercy Health—Lourdes Hospital Earns Greenhealth Partner for Change Award

(PADUCAH, KY) – As a mission-based organization, Mercy Health has a continued commitment to the health and wellbeing of the patients and communities it serves. That includes a commitment to developing a sustainable culture through environmental stewardships and working with others to protect the environment and our communities’ health now and for future generations.

Through efforts coordinated by a collaborative council of multi-disciplinary stakeholders across our ministry, Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH) and Paducah implemented system-wide sustainable initiatives that earned environmental excellence awards from Practice Greenhealth, a leading sustainability member organization for hospital networks.

The Greenhealth Partner for Change Award recognizes superior performance in environmental sustainability, covering a range of different sustainability programs and activities. Winners have also made substantive progress on mercury elimination.

“I am proud of the efforts that went into achieving this recognition and our continued opportunity to move this important work forward. As a ministry, we are unified in a shared concern for our planet. I am honored to be part of a system like Mercy Health, which is doing its part to care for our environment and our communities,” said Mike Yungmann, President of Mercy Health—Kentucky.

Mercy Health —Lourdes Hospital received this same distinction in 2023.
