Mercy Health – Lourdes Hospital has been honored by KODA (Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates) with two awards for the hospital’s support of organ and tissue donation. Mercy Health received the organization’s Outstanding Achievement in Organ and Tissue Donation award and was one of only six hospitals in KODA’s service area to achieve this distinction.
The Outstanding Achievement in Organ and Tissue Donation award is for the year 2017 and measures combined organ and tissue donation. Mercy Health – Lourdes Hospital also received recognition for its 2018 organ donations. Both honors received by Mercy Health were presented to health system representatives at KODA’s annual Gift of Life Summit. The Gift of Life Summit celebrated saving lives through organ donation and healing lives through tissue and cornea donation.
“At Lourdes we are honored by these awards and are pleased to support the mission of organ and tissue donation,” said Mercy Health – Lourdes Hospital Director of Quality Polly Bechtold, RN, MSN/MHA. “We greatly appreciate the generous donor families who choose to give the gift of life to those in need.”
