Each year in the United States, more than 100,000 people are diagnosed with kidney failure, a serious condition in which the kidneys fail to rid the body of wastes. Kidney failure is the final stage of chronic kidney disease (CKD).
To help raise awareness about the importance of a kidney screening, Lourdes is partnering with Baptist Health Paducah, Fresenius Kidney Care, Graves County Health Department, Kidney Health Alliance of Kentucky (KHAKY), Western Kentucky Kidney Specialists and the Purchase Area Diabetes Connection to offer a free kidney screening and health fair on Saturday, April 14. The event will be held at the Lourdes Marshall Nemer Pavilion’s Borders Community Room from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
There will be kidney screenings available, along with blood pressure, blood glucose and height and weight screenings, chair massages and cooking demonstrations. A variety of vendors will have displays with health related products, services and educational materials. Attendees can register for door prizes and enjoy refreshments throughout the event.
The event is free and open to the public. To RSVP, or for more information, call 270-415-3915.
