ED Grand Opening

Paducah, KY (January 10, 2016) – Lourdes held an open house, ribbon cutting and blessing for your “Emergency Department of the Future” on Sunday. The expansion and renovation allows the Emergency Department (ED) to double in size providing state-of-the -art technology, expanded trauma response, centralized nursing stations for direct oversight of patient rooms, improved access and parking with a covered entry, dedicated ambulance entrance for critical patients and new helipad location. The new ED is fast, flexible and mobile, so it can change instantly to meet any situation.  Phase one of the construction was completed in September.

Lourdes’ Emergency Department is staffed by board-certified ER physicians and specialty trained staff.

“With the number of emergency room visits increasing dramatically in the past few years, we wanted to meet the needs of our patients,” said Dr. Jeremy Klope, Lourdes Emergency Department Medical Director. “This emergency room expansion demonstrates our commitment to the community to provide the most efficient access of emergency care

24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Patients will experience first-class service as soon as they come through our doors.”

 Dr. Brian Vanderboegh has practiced emergency medicine at Lourdes for more than 30 years. “The Emergency Department is the front door for many patients to the many services we provide to our community,” added Dr. Vanderboegh. “The expansion will allow our elite team of physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants to better manage the volume of patients and the variety of patient care needs.”

At the center of care, the Emergency Department will be positioned for quick access to the cardiac catheterization lab, operating room (OR), Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and Computerized tomography (CT) scan and intensive care unit (ICU).

Lourdes broke ground on the new Emergency Department in July of 2014. Phase two will open to patients on Wednesday.
