Lima & Van Wert Elks to Donate $10,000 to St. Rita’s Pediatric Rehabilitation
Since 1972, the Ohio Elks Association has generously donated more than $334,000 to Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center’s pediatric rehabilitation department through The Ohio Elks Cerebral Palsy Fund Board.
On Thursday, June 8, at 11 a.m. the association will add to their contributions and will present a check for $10,000 to the medical center’s pediatric rehabilitation department, a patient and their family and St. Rita’s Health Care Foundation. The presentation will take place at St. Rita’s pediatric rehabilitation department located at 830 W. High Suite 150, Lima, Ohio 45801.
Louie Crow, past state chair of The Ohio Elks Cerebral Palsy Board and member of Van Wert Elks; Charles White, president of Van Wert Elks; and Jean Zink, president of Lima Elks will present the check on behalf of the association.
“We are grateful to the Elks for their long standing support of our pediatric rehabilitation program and their commitment to helping children with Cerebral Palsy. The Pedi Rehab Fund has enabled us to purchase special equipment needed for children receiving physical, occupational and speech therapies. In addition, the Fund has assisted families who may be underinsured, by deferring the cost of a child’s treatment,” said Jacque Daley-Perrin, president of St. Rita’s Health Care Foundation.
In past years, St. Rita’s has used the funds provided to purchase equipment such as a Walkable, which helps children who cannot support their own weight to walk and necessary software upgrades that support the patient experience and equipment.
The medical center is thankful for the continued funding and generosity that the Ohio Elks Association provides. Part of the medical center’s mission is to improve the health of the many communities they serve, and the donations made on behalf of the Elks Association helps to support just that.
