Mercy Health—Marcum and Wallace Hospital has teamed up with Senior Life Solutions to support older adults facing symptoms of depression, anxiety, or other mental challenges that often accompany the aging process.

The Senior Life Solutions program at Mercy Health—Marcum and Wallace Hospital provides outpatient services tailored to the specific needs of individuals, typically aged 65 and older, who may benefit from developing coping and communication skills to enhance their mental well-being. This program includes both group and individual therapy sessions, psychiatric evaluations, and medication management.

Our dedicated team consists of a board-certified psychiatrist, licensed therapists, a registered nurse, and other professionals, all committed to nurturing the emotional health of our community’s older adults.

“This collaboration between Mercy Health and Senior Life Solutions brings an evidence-based treatment program to our community, one that has been shown to enhance the mental health of older adults significantly,” shared Trena Stocker, president of Mercy Health—Marcum and Wallace Hospital. “It’s important for seniors to understand that depression doesn't have to be an inevitable part of aging. Our program is here to help them enjoy happier and healthier lives.”

Older adults may find value in the Senior Life Solutions program if they are encountering any of the following common signs or triggers of depression and anxiety:

  • Anxiety
  • Changes in appetite
  • Depression
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Persistent feelings of sadness or grief lasting more than two weeks
  • Feelings of worthlessness or hopelessness
  • The loss of a spouse or close family member
  • A decline in energy
  • Disinterest in previously enjoyed activities
  • Recently experienced a traumatic event

After a personalized assessment, participants can engage in a supportive group environment, meeting up to three times a week. Individual therapy sessions and medication management are also available, along with regular check-ins. To make it more accessible, our program includes teletherapy services, enabling patients to receive the needed support from the comfort of their own homes, whether through a telephone, computer, or tablet device.

Referrals to the program can come from anyone, including health care professionals, family members, or friends. For further information, please feel free to contact the Senior Life Solutions Program at Mercy Health—Marcum and Wallace Hospital at 606-726-8225.
