Mercy Health, a Catholic health ministry serving Ohio and Kentucky, announces that it has named Andy Thompson Chief Operating Officer of Mercy Health Physicians. Thompson reports to Staci Lucius, president of Mercy Health Physicians, and assumes his role on April 30.
As COO, Thompson will partner with regional executives to provide ministry-level guidance and leadership for the Mercy Health Physicians organization.
“Andy brings tremendous experience and expertise in all aspects of physician practice management,” said Lucius. “His leadership will further our mission, reflect our values and help us deliver on our promise to help patients be well.”
He joins Mercy Health from the St. Louis-based Mercy system, where he worked for more than 12 years, taking on roles of growing responsibility, most recently as chief operating officer for Mercy Clinic – Northwest Arkansas. Under his leadership, the Northwest Arkansas medical group received recognition for strong performance as an Accountable Care Organization, as well as for physician, associate and patient satisfaction.
Thompson has a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Missouri State University at Springfield and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of Minnesota, Twin Cities at Minneapolis.
