Mercy Health launches Friday Farmers Market in Bond Hill
Cincinnati, OH (June 13, 2016) -- You can buy organic and locally grown produce and other healthy foods 3-6 p.m. every Friday on the patio (north side) of the new home office in Bond Hill starting June 24. Mercy Health's Friday Farmers Market runs through Oct. 21. It includes:
• A pop-up stand from Findlay Market featuring five or six of the market’s different vendors on a rotating basis (accepts Produce Perks and SNAP)
• Organic meat and eggs from Walnut Ridge Acres farm
• Fresh breads from Crackling Crust micro bakery
• Fresh produce, sauces and jams from the Organic Farm at Bear Creek
• Fruit bread from Nay, Nay’s, a Findlay Market staple
• Food demonstrations
• Health screenings
“This is part of our pledge to residents of this community--to help them be healthier. Bringing local farmers and bakers right here to Bond Hill is one way we can help support health and wellness—that’s what we’re all about,” said Mercy Health-Cincinnati’s Leader Mike Garfield.
Nutritionists will be on hand every week to offer advice on healthy eating and recipes to make healthy meal planning easier. So, for example, if you pick up an eggplant, a nutrition expert will be able to offer tips on how to prepare it.
“In talking with Bond Hill and Roselawn residents, I learned that they wanted access to healthy foods,” said Michelle Hopkins, community engagement director for Mercy Health. ”The Friday Farmers’ Market is a first step in helping provide that access.”
