Mercy Health – Anderson Hospital and The Jewish Hospital – Mercy Health earned “A” grades in the spring Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a national distinction recognizing these hospitals’ achievements in providing safer health care.
“Receiving Leapfrog’s ‘A’ designation is a proof point demonstrating the commitment Mercy Health’s clinicians, staff and administrators have to achieving health care excellence,” Mercy Health – Cincinnati President Dave Fikse says. “I congratulate the teams at Anderson Hospital and The Jewish Hospital on their outstanding achievement.”
The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, injuries, accidents and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
“An ‘A’ Safety Grade is a tremendous achievement, of which this community should be extremely proud,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I thank the leadership and workforce of Mercy Health – Cincinnati for its commitment to prioritizing patients and their safety, especially during these trying times.”
Developed under the guidance of a national expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
