Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month Community Event
Mercy Health—Lourdes Hospital is pleased to announce a community event on Friday, March 7, from 10 AM to 2 PM, in recognition of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. The event will be held at the Marshall Nemer Medical Office Building in the Borders Community Room, and the general public is warmly invited to attend.
This event intends to educate our community about colorectal cancer, emphasizing the importance of prevention and early detection when the cancer is most treatable. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about the latest technologies available to help combat this disease.
The Mercy Health Paducah Cancer Center is excited to present the Incredible Colon display: a 20-foot-long by 10-foot-high replica of the human colon. From 10 AM to 2 PM, guests will be invited to tour this impressive model, which illustrates the anatomy and functions of the colon.
Additionally, participants can sign up to receive FIT tests through the Kentucky Cancer Program, schedule a colonoscopy with the Mercy Health-Lourdes Hospital G.I. staff, and gather valuable educational materials. Starting at noon, a complimentary lunch will be provided for the first 30 attendees.
From 12 PM to 1 PM, nurse practitioner Jessica Grossom, a gastroenterology specialist with Mercy Health—Lourdes Hospital, will host a "Lunch and Learn" session. During this time, Jessica will discuss various topics related to colorectal cancer, including prevention strategies, treatment options, and the latest updates in diagnosis.
