Lung Cancer Awareness Event
On Wednesday November 13, 2024, Mercy Health—Lourdes Hospital is hosting a free community education event on lung cancer at the Mercy Health – Marshall Nemer Medical Office Building, 1532 Lone Oak Road, Paducah, Kentucky 42003:
• From 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Lourdes Hospital presents the MEGA Lungs exhibit. This large-scale, interactive, and educational model of the human lungs measures 12 feet by 15 feet by 10 feet and teaches about various lung diseases' risks, symptoms, nature, and causes. It will be located outside the Marshall Nemer Medical Office Building, and experts will be on hand to answer questions and discuss lung health.
• At noon, in the Marshall Nemer Medical Office Building Borders Community Room, Mercy Health Physician and pulmonologist Mohamad Khoudoud, MD, will give a “Lunch and Learn” talk for the public on Lung Cancer Updates. This will include topics such as:
o Tools to quit smoking
o Advances in lung cancer screening, including low-dose CT scans, which are now more widely available
o Advances in diagnosis, including imaging and bronchoscopy
o Advances in treatment options for lung cancer
Mercy Health will partner with the American Cancer Society, the National Lung Cancer Roundtable, GO2 for Lung Cancer, the Radiology Health Equity Coalition, and the American College of Radiology as part of the second annual National Lung Cancer Screening Day (“National LCS Day”). Team members will be on hand to identify, qualify, schedule, and register patients for Low-Dose CT screenings.
