What is bladder prolapse?
Bladder prolapse, also known as a prolapsed bladder, a cystocele or a fallen bladder, occurs when the floor of the bladder begins to sag through the supportive muscles and ligaments that hold them in place. This can cause the bladder to bulge into the vagina. In some cases, the bladder can sag so low in the vagina that it can be seen from the vagina’s opening or even protrude out of the vagina.
If left untreated, bladder prolapse can cause stress incontinence or other urinary conditions.
