Mercy Health is pleased to announce that Andrea Gwyn, FACHE, has been named president of Mercy Health – St. Anne Hospital. She also will continue to serve as president of Mercy Health – Perrysburg Hospital, a position she has held since July 2021.
Andrea’s new dual role was effective Oct. 9, and fills a vacancy created in June when former St. Anne president, Brad Bertke, left to assume leadership of a Mercy Health hospital in Cincinnati.
“Andrea has been a proven leader in the Perrysburg community, and we are excited to welcome her to the St. Anne team as well,” said Bob Baxter, president of Mercy Health – Toledo. “Andrea’s experience is an asset to our patients and our community, and we look forward to continued growth and service enhancement under her leadership.”
Andrea has 15 years of progressive health care operational experience. She began her administrative career with HCA Healthcare in the Denver market. After serving as an operational leader in several markets within HCA, Andrea pursued health care consulting. Prior to joining Mercy Health, she was contracted to serve as a hospital operations subject matter expert and onsite COO for a city-owned hospital and skilled nursing facility in Washington, DC.
As hospital president of both Perrysburg and St. Anne, Andrea is responsible for the strategic leadership, growth and operational oversight of the facilities. She leads the safety, quality and compliance of patient care; community outreach and population health; financial accountability; medical staff relations; and works to achieve the mission and performance standards of the hospitals. Andrea earned her master’s in health administration from Virginia Commonwealth University and a bachelor’s in business administration from University of Richmond.
“St. Anne Hospital is celebrating its 20-year anniversary partnering with the Sylvania and surrounding West Toledo community to improve health care outcomes.” Andrea said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside the wonderful team at St. Anne Hospital to continue build on St. Anne’s solid legacy and of providing excellent care.”
Recently celebrating its 20th anniversary, Mercy Health – St. Anne Hospital opened its doors in August 2002 in West Toledo after relocating from the former Riverside Hospital in downtown Toledo. In addition to emergency services, St. Anne Hospital features the Mercy Health Heart and Vascular Institute and the Mercy Health Women's Center, as well as services such as surgery, critical care, on-site lab, imaging and diagnostic services.
The only full-service community hospital in Perrysburg, Mercy Health – Perrysburg Hospital proudly offers 46 private inpatient rooms and comprehensive services such as surgery, critical care, on-site lab, imaging and diagnostic services and a full-service, 24/7 emergency room that consistently ranks among the nation’s best for patient satisfaction. Perrysburg Hospital is also home to the region’s only Gamma Knife®, which is an advanced brain surgery tool, and is proud to announce the recent addition of a new cardiac cath lab.
